I just got back from 10 days in China at 65 years old. A couple of 15 hour flights in coach, climbed hundreds of steps at the Great Wall and aversged 16,000 steps for three days in the sweltering heat of Chongqing. it was sometimes difficult but absolutely worth it. It's not too late.

Great advice I’m 55. I just started traveling about six years ago and I’m sitting here rubbing magnesium oil spray on my legs because they hurt and I haven’t been traveling as I’m writing this.

Great points .. just got back from a solo trip to Rome 32K steps. Ave 17K daily. Everyone is different physically. Last year Philippines “canyoneering” no problem! Just go plane

I did the same as you when I was your age, by 27, I had been all over the world. Now being in my early 60’s I’m living abroad and loving it. I did and saw so many amazing things while traveling during my lifetime. My best advice, go to observe, not to judge. When you see the world as an observer you learn. When you see the world and judge, you become even smaller minded.

At age 40 in 2016 traveled on a Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona to Athens. Then flew to Istanbul, France and London all within 3 weeks cost was $17,000 total for 3 people. Our daughter was only 5 was the best vacation we’ve ever experienced, lots of walking as we visited a different country everyday. Yes, travel when younger.

I travel well into my 70's. I hike up volcanos in the Aeolian Islands off Sicily. Stay in a room in an ancient building 7 flights up with no elevators carrying luggage in Nice. I cycle around Tuscany from Florence to Sienna. I do prepare by hiking and stair climbing before my visits. I I travel independently so I don't worry about keeping up with a group. I always extend my original destination to get over jet lag before I start my adventures. I don't try to see everything. That is tiring at any age. I always tell people to just buy the ticket and go. Life is an adventure!

As a 56 yr old, who just started international travel a few yrs ago, I now go to the gym to train so I can travel. Def travel while you’re young but if you didn’t, start doing yoga, walking, etc so you don’t hurt and can see everything you want.

I agree on most. But as much as traveling young if you can is great, you’re completely unaware of what it’s like to be 40+. I’m 51 and travel solo internationally fairly often. My body is doing just fine. And I rarely even rent a car because I’m in foot as much as possible. I hiked the Samaria Gorge during my 50th birthday trip.

I have been following you for a couple of years. I appreciate these words. The irony is that I am sitting in the airport terminal in New York about to go to Italy for a month and I am 69 years old. I last spent time there when I was 25 years old! My body will be tested!

Absolute truth ! I’m 63 just got back from a month in China….loved it, but walking 15 to 20km a day really takes it toll. I used AI exoskeleton for the great wall. I love travelling….but each year it does get noticeably more challenging. Don’t wait for the “perfect time”. It doesn’t exist….just get out there…you won’t regret it…promise!
