@broadwayonair: A couple of weeks ago, I posted a clip from a Jessica Simpson interview during her shift from pop to country. A lot of you asked for more, so here is the next piece of that tape. I want to preface this by saying Jessica was incredibly kind. We co-hosted a birthday bash together, and the literal first thing she said to me before we even went over our stage announcements was that she was sorry to hear about my mom passing away. She asked how I was doing, which was a genuinely sweet, classy move. But looking back, this specific clip was a pretty clear indicator that her transition into the country format was going to face some major uphill battles. I asked her about her country influences. She could name a few artists, but when I asked which specific songs she liked, things hit a wall. I wasn't trying to pull a "gotcha" moment. I actually loved the artists she mentioned and just wanted a normal conversation, but I ended up having to feed her the actual song titles just to keep the interview moving. Maybe it was just severe nerves, but it definitely showed she wasn't quite ready for the format. Watch for yourself, because this part is still a little bit cringe.
