@velesyk: Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. It is a majestic city with a rich thousand-year history, serving as the political, cultural, and spiritual heart of the country. History and Founding: According to an ancient legend, the city was founded at the end of the 5th century (the official year of foundation is considered to be 482 AD) by three brothers — Kyi, Shchek, and Khoryv — and their sister Lybid. In the Middle Ages, Kyiv became the center of a powerful state — Kyivan Rus, playing a key role in the development of all of Eastern Europe. Population: Today, it is the largest and most dynamic metropolis in Ukraine, home to approximately 3 million people. What it is known for: The city is famous for its golden domes and ancient shrines, including the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and St. Sophia Cathedral, which are UNESCO World Heritage sites. Kyiv is also inextricably linked with the green hills of the mighty Dnipro River, blooming chestnut trees in the spring, and its main street Khreshchatyk. || Kyiv - edit. // #kyiv #kyivukraine #ukraine #київ #edit
