Guys in the Netflix version they never mention the one year timeline. They did this intentionally because they knew the actors would age so unlike the original, this show takes place over the course of multiple years

Ya’ll, just take it on the chin and accept that we could never adapt a cartoon/animation to live action EVER. Gotta be realistic, take the show not as in comparison but as what it is.. an ADAPTATION. Same way a movie ain’t line by line to its book version

The issue here is that Netflix normally ignores the actors ageing and just treats them like they haven't aged. If they made a statement like the story takes more time or his body is catching up after being in ice for so long then it wouldn't be as much of an issue
