Nolan IS trying but that doesn’t mean that debbie should forgive him. Mark is too kind for forgiving him. I want him to realize deeply what he did but also I want him to realize that people wouldn’t just forgive him because he did some good things. Even if he spent the rest of his life regretting and getting better that doesn’t mean that anyone should forgive him. I do love Nolan though and I do believe that he is so well written.
