Ontario Premier Doug Ford called U.S. President Donald Trump a “loser” while responding Monday to the latest tariff threats. Ford said everything is on the table amid the trade war, including surcharges on electricity the province sends to several American states. Last year, Ford announced a surcharge on Ontario’s electricity exports to the U.S. as retaliation for Trump’s tariffs. He backed down after Trump threatened to increase tariffs in response. The Ontario premier spoke that same day about Trump on the Toronto talk radio station NewsTalk 1010 “Well, he can kiss my ass, as far as I’m concerned,” Ford said. “We’re going to go at him full speed,” he added, threatening that American motorists “won’t be able to fill up, because we’ll be controlling the oil and the gas going down there.” Trump posted a response on Truth Social. “Lots of ‘bluster’ from Doug Ford, who is the Premier of the Canadian Province of Ontario, but who is better known as the less charismatic, intelligent, and overall unimpressive brother of the late, great Rob Ford,” Trump said in reference to the former Toronto mayor.
