This is so real. People donโt appreciate something until they lack it. So she will always take what you do for granted but when sheโs older she will understand, hopefully. But in the meantime it is painful, I get you man.

Your self evaluation towards the end in regard to expecting appreciation was refreshing to hear. Youโre doing good trying to be a better man but be careful with expecting validation because of your trauma. Children will allows want more and may not see or recognise that you had less than them. Also be mindful with limiting your idea of what a good dad is, itโs important to find time heal from the trauma so that your not comparing actions. You should be doing what a great dad does without the reflection of you didnโt have this growing up or you might find yourself limiting for whatโs good enough, as a way to say Iโm simply better than my own dad. It shouldnโt stop at your trauma, it should go beyond for the betterment of your child. But honestly keep it up, youโre on the right track.

Believe me brother when she gets older she'll start thinking about everything you've done for her and never stop appreciating it. I have incredible parents and sometimes catch myself just thinking how lucky I was to grow up in the environment I grew up in.

my dad has messed up now that i'm older but I have always said I can't say he wasn't there during my childhood. he was a good dad then and he made childhood fun too. she will realize when she's older!
