I see people say all the time that a fast food cheeseburger is cheaper because they can buy a cheeseburger for $6 and the ingredients cost 20 at the store. Completely missing the fact that you can get 12 cheeseburgers for the price of 3 fast food ones.

I like chicken breast but if I want them I'll buy a whole chicken and break it down myself, get way more meat for other recipes, bones for stalk, and still get 2 breasts I can use for 2 different recipes.

Just because it is cheaper per pound, does not mean the meat is. Chicken breast is 100% meat, the other cuts are primarily bone.... you still pay per pound for the bone.

The quickest way to stretch your budget is just to eat less meat entirely. People are eating an 8oz chicken breast as a portion size which is just nuts. We have got to stop worshipping protein.

Buy meat when it’s on sale and freeze it too! This week at my store chicken breasts are on sale for $1.97/lb and I’m going to buy a bit extra and freeze it

When bags of onions are on sale, I get two, cut them all and keep them in a ziplock freezer bag and just pull them out when I need them. Saves time on prep too.
