Will the people closest to me support this? • It’s a lonely lifestyle, you’re gone constantly. You need a strong support system • No support makes it brutal. The bitterness and broken relationships in this industry are real Can I actually afford $80–100K+ of training? • And if not, what’s your plan? • So many people never finish, they didn’t anticipate the true cost, or delays kept them from flying consistently Can I hold an FAA medical? • Get your 1st class medical before you commit to a school • If you can’t hold a 1st class, airline pilot isn’t an option Am I ready to be tested for the rest of my career? • The studying never stops. The evaluations never stop • It doesn’t stop at the airlines, you’ll have 1–2 checkrides every year to maintain standards if you’re not honest with yourself and the lifestyle that becoming a pilot is then you’re gonna be in for a very rough ride when you actually get here. I love what I do, I love flying, but this career is not easy, and not something worth pursuing if you don’t love it. I am not someone who comes home and dreams about flying and flies in all my free time, but I do love the pressure, the sun rises, the aspects of my job balance out the hard days with maintenance and weather and delays or a trip extending #pilot #studentpilot #aviation #airlinepilot #flighttraining
