@cityofsmilebacolod: I just watched a heartbreaking video of a student being mocked and repeatedly called “Dumbo” by fellow students, seemingly to make fun of her body by comparing her to a television personality. No child should ever have to experience that kind of humiliation. What some people dismiss as “just a joke” can leave scars that last for years. Body shaming and bullying can destroy a person’s confidence and affect their mental health. Every learner deserves to walk into a classroom feeling safe, accepted, and respected. Schools should be spaces where kindness is taught and every student is treated with dignity. Before calling someone names, remember that you don’t know the battles they are already fighting. Your words may only last a few seconds, but the pain they cause can stay with someone for a lifetime. Let’s stop normalizing body shaming. Let’s stop laughing at bullying.
