If the world 🌍 is 4.54 billion years old wouldn’t the universe be the same age?

do you have podcast I could listen to?
I am big fan of Startalk and Liuneverse, but I would like to hear some from you too...

Can you explain what existed before, or outside of the universe? If the big bang created everything, that means 'nothing' existed before it..no light, time or dimensions. I cannot get my head around that!

id like to see what happened before our cosmic event. I dont think the big bang was the start. im agnostic, open to anything really. Just want to know what happened. personally I think universes are cyclical events, like infinity.

could you please explain why the light couldn’t move freely before the universe cooled down?

Alan Nixon :
The 13.8 billion is the calculated age of our big bang. We can only say the wider, possibly infinite, universe is at least as old as that. They are two different concepts.

Funny that most would expect the size of the universe could be derived from its size, when in reality it’s about the physics of expansion together with time evolution. So in theory this universe could be infinite in size but that wouldn’t affect the estimate of its age

if time is irrelevant then we can't measure when the universe began
