There is a double bind feature to this as well in some dynamics. If you’re not emoting, it’s not serious and if you are emoting, you’re being emotional and it’s not serious.

I've realized I can say anything I want in any way I want to my husband because he doesn't hear it anyway. nothing penetrates anyway so I don't censor myself at all.

I tend to get quieter and/or silent, turning inward when I'm not being heard. This forces them to lean in and/or ask me a question. But if they truly don't care, I can quietly move on w/o getting frustrated and emotional.
