For me what also sucks is that these covers are so incredibly ugly as it is. The artwork sucks, the colors suck, and doesn’t even kind of give the vibe of what these books are. I miss the old YA covers so bad. They were so much better.

Why does it matter if they all match? I’ll just buy the two new hardbacks and I don’t care at all if my others are paperbacks. I don’t understand why people are so upset? You don’t need to buy all new books just buy the new ones.

We do realize that buying them is totally optional, right? It’s okay to buy the digital version and wait for paperbacks to be released, lots of publishers only release hard covers at first.

Jokes on them I'm planning to wait until the very last one is released before reading any of them. at that point I figure the hype will have blown over and I'll borrow from the library before deciding if the books are worth buying. if it's any thing like CC3 I doubt I'll buy it.

I'm so angry. Paperback fans are screaming for the paperbacks. But instead they screwed those of us who like hardbacks. There is a segment that only buys paperback, some the only want hardbacks, and another that buys both. Now they have paperback lovers not buying and the other two groups deciding on canceling hardbacks. They are not winning with this.

the process of delaying a paperback is called windowing. it doesn't happen everywhere (ex Australia gets paperbacks on release day) and not by every publisher or for every title, but the purpose is solely for $$. get people to buy the more expensive hard cover or cave and buy the ebook at the higher price. with books like this, that could also result in multiple sales per person (ex ebook initially then the paperback when it comes out)
