This 250th should have been a celebration for all - natural born, immigrants, yt, poc, gay, straight, other, women, men, everyone. It should have celebrated all presidents, past and present, alive and gone. It should have been a celebration of progress, freedom, equality and democracy. It should have celebrated our contributions to the domestic and international worlds, our place in the global community of people. It could have been great. It could have been. A celebration.

The funding is only half of it. If people had a reason to be excited about it then the public, vendors, exhibitors, workers would go above and beyond to make it amazing. It had so much potential that this admin squashed.

This is what we got in 1976. We felt proud and excited by the celebration. Ford made purposeful attempts to not be front center. I believe he only started the tall ship parade. Trump ruins everything!

Under ANY other president, It would have big party. World Cup, Obama's Presidential Center Opening. It would have been an amazing time for Americans and all of our visitors. Though I think the people coming for the World Cup are vibing. But it could have been so much better!

I graduated high school during the bicentennial. We had so much fun! There was so much to do related to it. Everyone participated! We even got to choose red,white & blue tassels on our graduation cap or the school colors. I got both and still have them. I cannot describe the sadness I feel for my kids and grandkids not getting to experience this. Although it won’t solve all our problems I am looking forward to the celebration I hope to have soon which is a certain person’s funeral 😡
