To get things straight, I’m aware war would have begun with or without Gavrilo Princip due to the already high tensions between the major powers, however, that still does not mean Franz Ferdinand’s death was not the ultimate spark to Austria-Hungary’s declarations.

yea the Franco Russian alliance of 1894 isolated germany and austria hungary, and germany's plans to ally with Britain fell through. the british ended up siding with France and Russia to make up the entente. germany had no choice but to develop the schlieffen plan out of defense. the dominoes were already in place, gavrilo just pushed the first one.
