This is partially accurate. Turkish Cypriot did not have means to protect themselves, it was essentially a gen*cide so they asked Turkey for help. They did not occupy land any more than Greece did. The “guarantors” Greece, Turkey and Britain got involved to end the war and it was decided that the two communities split. Turkish Cypriots were too eager to declare a government that they ended up not being recognised by other countries and got embargoed, having to heavily rely on Turkey. Honestly, every country involved, as it is in all of human history, wanted a piece to themselves. No one is really innocent. Cyprus is literally in the middle of the Earth, strategically very important tho small, having been taken ruled by about 17 different civilisations, some multiples times, before independence. Everyone wants something from us so seems we were never meant to have peace :/
