this was a lesson i had to learn the hard way. i liked someone so much that i started treating him like he was alr mine. we talked every day for almost 3 months. we updated each other constantly, shared random parts of our day, went on friendly dates, nd i genuinely thought we were building smth. because of his actions nd words, i started convincing myself that maybe he liked me too. but looking back, we never rlly talked abt what we were. i was doing gf things w/o even being the gf 😭 i kept hoping that if i cared enough, if i stayed long enough, maybe he’d choose me too. then one day, after NY, he just ghosted me. he came back, then ghosted me again. on my birthday, he greeted me and apologized. after that, we slowly became nothing but acquaintances. for a long time, i thought i needed him to come back for me to find closure. now, i realize that closure doesn't always come from another person. sometimes it comes from accepting the situation for what it was. i don't hate him nor regret meeting him. if anything, the experience taught me that consistency is not the same as commitment, nd that someone's kindness or attention should never be mistaken for a promise. sometimes people can mean a lot to us, yet still not be meant for us. nd perhaps the hardest lesson of all is that no amount of effort can make someone choose you if they have already decided not to :(
