One of the best pieces of advice I got was to NOT make things quiet when the baby is sleeping. That way they’ll learn to nap through it! It was a big help with my dogs

Just wait until she starts crawling and they tag along behind her to make sure she’s safe. Both our dogs did that with all three of my kids (now teens) and it was the sweetest thing ❤️

I think it’s a NICU baby thing bc both my kids were in the nice for 3-4 weeks & both of them sleep through my husbands alarms, my dogs barking, the tv can be LOUD and the just don’t wake up till this day my son is going to be 4 & my daughter is almost 2 🙂

having a baby that can sleep through things is amazing. my firstborn slept through a parade as a baby. my secondborn wake up if a floorboard creaks.

They definitely must get used to the dog barking before they come out! My dog barks all the time at any noise and my baby so far just sleeps through it. He’s nearly 4 months and has started to jump when she barks but it doesn’t bother him. Thank god, I was worried about that one 😂

My dog used to lay on our bed next to the bassinet and watch our newborn sleep. Now that baby is almost 4 and demands that dog sleep with her every night.

Honestly I was terrified our dogs wouldn’t adjust well to a baby full time, but watching our lab who literally hated kids…. Change her whole demeanor and curl up next to him? Melted my heart.

I had the same fear as you and I'm happy to report that even after 4 years: ✔️still love my dogs ✔️dogs and daughter love each other ✔️daughter still sleeps through dogs barking ☺️🙌

My dog has the loudest bark ever and my son slept through it from day one but woke up when I would sneeze too close to the door lol so she probably is used to it!!

I sincerely hope it stays that way for you! It hit me more in the toddler phase and when we added more babies. I just got too overwhelmed and overstimulated by our 2 golden retrievers. My oldest child is 5 now and we still have the dogs but my husband had to take on almost all of their care and we send them to daycare a few times a week now to make it easier on me.
