@aisecondact: Here's the gap nobody tells you about. Most hiring managers admit the thank you note influences who they pick. Almost nobody sends one. That means a single email puts you ahead of three out of four people you're competing against, for free. But here's the catch. Most of the few notes that do get sent are garbage. "Thank you for your time, I'm excited about the opportunity." They've read that exact line a hundred times. Delete. The note that works references one specific thing you discussed, reinforces the strength that matched their biggest concern, and ends with a real next step. PROMPT: "Write me a thank you email to send within 24 hours of my interview. Under 120 words. Reference this specific thing we discussed: [paste]. Reinforce that I'm strong at [the concern they seemed to have]. End with a clear next step, not 'looking forward to hearing back.' Interviewer: [name]. Role: [role]" Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity. Send it the same day, not three days later. Did you send a thank you note after your last interview? Be honest. #interviewtips #jobsearch #careeradvice #interviewfollowup #jobhunt

I always send actual thank you cards. Yes, and on those jobs, I was hired.

Very true. It can’t a generic thank you note but a very short one that is tailored to a point or two during the interview. A thank you email or letter can’t guarantee you the job, but it’ll give you a better chance. The note will distinguish you from other candidates and can help the hiring manager remember you. He’s probably talking to many candidates and it’s hard for him to remember everyone.

Why? How could that sway your decision? I don’t buy this statistic.

I’ve never sent one and it’s never prevented me from getting the job. I had one boss tell me years after when we were talking about hiring she remembers I didn’t send one. I said that’s right you guys were lucky to get me, I was interviewing you 😉. She said yeah, it doesn’t make or break the decision on my end and I saw it as confidence. 😅

right....like most dont even bother to call and say sorry. we went another way.Funny how employers expect manners from candidates but don't do it themselves.

I am huge on THANK YOU NOTES/Text or emails. You do not get hire, invited back or given a present EVER again if no thank you was sent

Do they send out thank you emails to interviewees? They are doing the interview on their worktime.I am doing it on my personal time.

As a hiring manager in med device sales, the comments thinking that the extra simple step of a thank you letter being unnecessary are very mistaken.

I’ve hired and been hired and the quality of the follow up email is important. Not the thank you part. The reference to a specific discussion point shows you were engaged and listening.

I used to hire people for big companies and only went with experience and gut feeling because there’s too many good actors displaying their best self in interviews and as for notes i never took them into account. It’s about reading through the lines both on resumes and in person not the extra

Wrong. All selection is processed through HR to ensure legality. A note does sweet FA.
