Offsides is offsides. I don't think a toe gives an advantage, but we have to make up more rules saying a leg gives an advantage, but a knee doesn't. An arm gives an Advantage, but an elbow doesn't. Rules would be ridiculous to keep up with.

While I do question the accuracy of semi automated offsides I think even if your barely offside your offside you can't do exceptions because then it's just gonna keep getting pushed further if the want to change guidelines for offside fair enough but as it is rn it doesn't matter how offside you are, and another point fouls aren't automated because they're inherently subjective decisions relying on many factors (force, recklessness, where the studs make contact, avoidability, for dogso whether it was actually a gso or a defender was covering and many more ) while I feel Messi's probably was a red, there's a distinguishable line with an offside its either offside or not it's not up for interpretation

If they're going to show VAR like that why don't they also show exactly when the ball was kicked to the offside player? They always zoom in on the offside player, which I get, but I'd like to see exactly when the ball gets kicked.

This is no the first time they used VAR. It is not a new system and has been used for years. What is being used for the first time is the Semi-Automated Offside Technology. This was 100% offside.

How do people make video about something they are ignorant about, without researching and some understanding, eg. He said he watched many full football matches and showed offside and foul which were consistently offside or not called red once and called it inconsistent. Bro all goalscoring body parts of goal scorer ahead of 2nd defender is always offside and every foul that does not merit as straight red offence is not red carded however that particular foul was yellow card offence, as awarded to most similar offence though no reds.

It's like having two feet inbounds for a reception or having a foot on the line between a 2 or 3 point shot. All sports are a matter of inches. VAR is used by other leagues, so it's only new to FIFA
