@ewancoach: Not every poor coaching experience begins with a bad person. Sometimes it begins with a volunteer who was recruited, handed a team and left to work it out alone. Clubs have a responsibility to do more than find coaches. They need to set clear expectations, provide proper support, develop their coaches, listen to concerns and step in when standards are not being met. Good environments should not depend on whether a child happens to get one of the good ones. The PlayStrong Youth Sport Standard gives clubs a clearer way to think about the environments they create, the adults they support and the children they are responsible for.
