@epoc_chemistry: What Is Benzene? Cyclohexane with three double bonds, cyclohexatriene, should in theory consist of six carbons in a ring, with alternating short, double and long single bonds. But experimental evidence shows that this is not the case, and that all bonds are equally sized and somewhere in the middle. This is because the pi electrons are delocalised, and shared equally across all carbons. This means it is more accurate to represent this structure as a benzene ring, a hexagon with a circle inside. #science #chemistryalevels #organicchemistry #learnontiktok #aromatic
