@nelsonandbloom: 5 simple jobs that will help you grow healthier, more productive cucumber plants. 🥒 1. Grow your plants vertically in a sunny spot or greenhouse to maximise space and yield whilst also keeping the plant dry and free of disease. 2. Remove lower leaves and side shoots to improve airflow and reduce the risk of disease. 3. Tie plants into a strong support as they grow to protect developing cucumbers and make harvesting much easier. 4. Learn the difference between male and female flowers. If pollinators are scarce, you can hand-pollinate with a small paintbrush. Planting companion flowers, such as marigolds or nasturtiums can also help attract bees and other pollinators. 5. Cucumbers are around 95% water, so consistent watering is essential. Feed weekly with a high-potash tomato feed once they begin flowering to support healthy growth and continuous fruit production. My favourites to grow are National pickling (for obvious reasons) and Crystal Lemon for perfectly sized colourful snacks! #GrowYourOwn #KitchenGarden #CucumberGrowing #VegetableGarden #GardeningTips
