Millys approach was great. Supergirl wanted to be numb. Or monotone. She’s going through a depression and anyone who has struggled with this understands that sometimes you just want to be numb.

As a person who's been called a cinefile, I could certainly pick apart the movie's flaws, but why would I want to? Some are too obvious to ignore though. I love Lobo and I think Jason Mamoa is the most obvious casting in the world, but I agree I don't know why he was there at all. I too kinda hated some of the changes from the source material as you pointed out. That being said, I enjoyed my time at the theater and left MORE excited to see what Supergirl does next. Hell, I might see it again. People just want to find the negativity in things. It's exhausting.

The amount of people who are saying Kara doesn’t show emotions is insane. You put it amazingly, just cause she isn’t constantly breaking down doesn’t mean she has no emotions!!!!

I wish Kara got more screen time which id a crqzy crazy thing to say in her own movie. I wish the emotions they were going through was more concrete. I thought it would be more focused on her going it but it was kinda like that but with Ruthye as the pulling factor then supergirl herself.

I love that Krem was just an unapologetic evil person for the sake of being evil, I’m all for a villain and a redemption arc but I love that they didn’t give him one.

I really liked the movie and the way Kara’s character was developed. But it felt like it didn’t really lead anywhere. In the Superman movie, she returns to Earth from her adventures. That’s the end of the movie. Here, Kara returns to Earth. It’s as if the movie wasn’t necessary—like a “side quest.” Maybe it just seems that way because I knew her backstory, but for new viewers, it probably seemed more interesting. 3.5*

They didn’t even TRY to adapt the comic. The visuals were terrible as well, this movie should’ve looked like Project Hail Mary did. Milly was great and not the problem but the writing just wasn’t there and James Gunn needs to be taking this universe more seriously and stop with the side characters no one gives a damn about and give these films more focus. The film doesn’t do the comics justice at all⬇️

The one thing I disagree with is the whole “any adaptation is going to be water down” and ur not exactly wrong but an adaptation doesn’t have to be watered down they’re plenty of good adaptations that don’t water down the story the characters or the themes of the original source material and it’s a completely fair criticism to make lol
