@aspiringnuclearmom: We traded-in our 2015 Toyota Corolla for a used 2021 GMC Sierra truck at Quebedeaux Buick-GMC on June 13th, 2026. Our car was almost paid off but the dealership gave us a deal that was within our budget, so we figured why not. Then on June 25th my husband recieved an email saying to bring in 2 check stubs because the truck will be financed through their finance company because they couldn’t find a bank to finance with. My husband showed up with check stubs and they told him “okay, your new payment is now $610 a month”, the original deal and the offer my husband signed off on was $489.98. My husband told them no deal. They then came back and said $520, again he said no deal. Then they came back with $499. My husband then told them “I’m not going anything over the original amount we already agreed to. If you can’t do that then that’s fine, just give me my car back”…to which they replied “we don’t have your car, it was sent to auction days ago.” They refused to honor the deal that was originally made and did not offer any compensation from the car being sold or offer any free shuttle services to get him home. Leaving him stranded with no car, truck, money, and being left on the side of the road with his belongings in triple digit weather. Definitely contacting lawyers Monday morning. @Tank #quebedeauxbuickgmc

Copy and pasted this cause it’s important and truth!! Arizona has a specific law on this — A.R.S. § 44-1371. It says if the sale is conditioned on financing, the dealer must keep your trade-in (hold onto it, not sell or auction it) until the financing is finally approved or the vehicle is returned to you.

Take an Uber to the nearest law office. They're required by law to keep your trade in until everything is finalized

Ummm, they cannot do that. They have to finance you at this point. I would make a police report and get you a damn good lawyer.

Not sure if your exact situation, similar to Nissan I trade in my car for a new car based on the financing that they stated they would do. After I traded in my car, they stated they did not do the financing. They ended up eating the price difference to get it financed. The trade-in was contingent on the purchase of the vehicle. Same they approve the deal before Nissan did an auctioned off my vehicle. However, Nissan was no longer offering the financing that I agreed to.
