@doctorwhofunpage: We’re going international with today’s location, all the way over to New York City! When it came to the departure of Amy and Rory back in 2012, it was New York that ended up being the setting of their demise, the perfect place for the Weeping Angels to feast! Many locations were used in the city, as well as some Cardiff and Bristol ones merely posing as Manhattan, no real shock by this point I’m sure! A handful of these were in Central Park, one of which was Bow Bridge. The bridge briefly appears twice in the story, near the beginning whilst the Doctor and Amy read River’s book and first discover Rory has become a part of it, as well as later on when the Doctor dramatically runs back to get the last page, to eventually read Amy’s farewell. A testament to Matt Smith’s popularity as the Doctor in America at the time is the crowds that turned up to watch the filming, with tons of videos and photographs online. It was also the first time the show had physically filmed in New York with actors, as the Series 3 Dalek two-parter was all in England with the odd plate shot. It’s a landmark in itself, so definitely worth a visit, but also a fantastic spot to sit on the side and recreate a pose from the episode, something I have seen a lot over the years. That last photo is actually little me from 2013! It was the one of the first locations I ever visited whilst on a family holiday, seemed like a perfect inclusion! 📍 Bow Bridge, New York 🗓️ Visited 7th April 2013, 1st September 2023 Story: The Angels Take Manhattan (2012) TAGS: #doctorwho #doctorwholocations #mattsmith #karengillan #fyp
