Qifrey literally describes Iguin in volume 5 as the “one with a visage like mine” and the brim hat he’s talking to says that he doesn’t know because they cover their faces. like he literally confirms they have the same face. Clone theory is just straight up real to me

Well, you've convinced me. I think it would be more appropriate if Iguin was the original and Qifrey the clone, though. I imagine in the old world cloning people to turn into conjuring ink was common practice.

Is it a clone/twin/sibling thing or jsut the authors love of parallels. Since they have shown us alternate coco so much I wonder. It would be cool if the similarities are a link but even if they are just two sides of a coin it’s still awesome there are so many subtle mirrors.

Don't forget their hats are rather similar. Both have pointed caps with tassels, with the main difference being the mask, which even the eye mask lines up similar to where Qifrey has the memory spell pinned.

To be fair all of this can be explained by the author's style and mannerisms. While I'm convinced the parallels between them are intentional, i think they serve more as metaphors/aesthetics (same as when we see Coco as brimhat) But these are some detailed and interesting observations that I appreciate. Let's wait and see.

Also, decor on Iguin’s cloak (those pendants on the bottom of it) is similar to Qifrey’s original one from his hat (before they swapped with Olruggio). Considering, that Qifrey doesn’t remember anything from his childhood, it could be his actual sibling. Or, if anything, a time clone.

Ive thought there was a connection between the two since forever. For one, Qifrey asks about a Brimmed Hat who looks like him. Two, they are symbolically connected with eye imagery. Qifrey only has one functional eye whereas Iguin's mask is one giant eye. Maybe theyre not clones but there IS some sort of connection.

[SPOILERS] but not only are they visually mirrored, but in epitaph too. “Iguin the lidless eye” means a lot more when you think about the one that Qifrey is missing 👀 plus the uniforms also mirror one another, especially their headwear. Qifrey’s cap is a really subtle eye with the dotted center when panned out and Iguin is an overt one. This is a theory I’ve been sitting on for a while and the last few chapters really did it for me tbhhhhh
