even if this water was pumped out it would eventually one way or another end up at a treatment plant where it would undergo a very similar process and return to your taps...

I mean yeah the chemicals neutralise themselves but it'd be so weird to be swimming between all that stuff 😭 don't they drain the bottom after a couple of days so they can remove everything that settles?
