Sam Neill came into our lives as a passionate researcher, a lucid and courageous man on the ground. He didn't just play Alan Grant; he became Alan Grant. This role belongs to him forever, because he carried it with rare authenticity, a presence that has marked entire generations. When we think of Jurassic Park, it is his gaze, his calm voice, his way of making believable both wonder and prudence in the face of nature that immediately come back to us. We wish he was still here, among us, in great shape, ready to return to the path of adventure, to continue the story of Jurassic World without end. Because some characters and actors transcend the years: they settle into our collective imagination and continue to exist with us, far beyond the screens. Sam Neill brought this permanence. He was one of those presences that have accompanied us since the 1990s, that made us dream, think and shudder. It is unfortunate that the journey has taken this turn. We refuse to accept any end. Since the 1980s and 1990s, our time has pushed so many boundaries that the very idea of a definitive conclusion seems anachronistic. We believe that what shone with such force continues to shine, forever. Alan Grant lives through Sam Neill, and Sam Neill lives through Alan Grant and through everyone who grew up with him. Thank you for this perfect incarnation. Thank you for this part of adventure and truth that he has offered to the world. He stays there, with us, in the light. Forever.
