Yes, we have the best healthcare in the world if the insurance companies will approve the treatment. Even then you’re looking at a lot of debt

The US doesn’t have the best healthcare- we have the most expensive but we rank bottom of all industrialized nations in overall patient outcomes.

I moved to Denmark from the US and a huge part of our decision to move was the cost of healthcare in the US. I was warned about long wait times in countries with socialized medicine. That has not been my experience. I waited 2 weeks for an appointment with my PCP who will come to my home if I am sick by the way. I had an abnormal mammogram and needed ultrasound and possible biopsy. Appointment was scheduled for me within 4 days (2 of which were Sat and Sun). Total cost…….$0. Cost in US with our previous insurance $2000 out of pocket (deductible, copays, co-insurance of 10%).

My daughter gets regular vomit inducing migraines. We finally have a referral to a neurologist, the soonest appointment we could snag was in November, appointment was scheduled back in February and we are in the cancelation list. American healthcare is no better than any other country. its automatically made worst by the fact that we have to pay cash money to wait for treatment.

I have decent insurance. I had a mole tested at the dermatologist. The test came back inconclusive, so the dermatologist wanted to do another test. Insurance said I have to wait 12 months for another test. Currently appealing. 🙄
