As a locksmith who rides, please get some spare keys made. Buy some cool ones online and have them cut at a lockshop. Making keys to bikes can be very difficult and costly. The tolerance on motorcycle locks is very tight.

Breaking your key is a skill issue, once you put the key in the gas tank try to apply downwards pressure while twisting it to open the tank. A lot of people put their key in and just twist/turn the top part hence why the other end of the key breaks because there was no pressure enough to move it smoothly…it’s literally physics. Never had this issue and I’ve been riding for a while. This also applies to to pretty much any locks or anything that requires a key to open
