when I lived in the Netherlands, the first thing I did was buy a portable AC unit, and everyone laughed at me. When it became unbearingly hot and sticky suddenly everyone showed up at my place to sponge up the cool environment!

ACs are not bad for the environment 😭 At most its a bit more strain on the power grid but thats not an environmental issue, thats an infrastructure issue that their government should address (as should many governments but thats a seperate issue)

The most surprising thing in China is that the old air conditioner at home broke down in the summer. I ordered a new one online in the morning. That afternoon, the workers came to dismantle the old air conditioner, and the new air conditioner was installed the next day. The total cost is about 150 EUR.
