@kiramlynn: While Hearst Castle is the definition of excess, one of the most interesting parts of this tour was seeing preservation in action. During our tour of the grand rooms, we had the opportunity to see a conservationist restoring the gold filigree in Casa Grande. He took a moment of his time to explain his technique and shared how he spent 11 years restoring the ceiling in just ONE room.
