I agree! Parent's need to teach their kids how to become good adults. You will spend more time in your life as an adult than a child.

I can't stand when people say "they're just kids" so like how will they learn anything if you don't teach them right from wrong?

When I need to correct kids at all (which is very rare btw), I use an age appropriate tone and words. Yes, they're kids and still learning, but the time to learn accountability is when they're young

Agreed!! But that also doesn’t give people the right to be an asshole to kids either.

Believe me, children who have more space to move around freely in a world not built for them, and who have understanding parents, do become more empathetic teens. My own son was a nightmare in public spaces growing up. He just turned 15, and he is as curious and outspoken as when he first learned to speak, but he is certainly a very respectful young man.

I feel your harsh upbringing is causing you to place unrealistic expectations on children. Also what do you mean by ‘children? A 3 year old? 6? 8? Childhood varies hugely developmentally and you can’t expect the same behaviour from a 4 year old as you would an 8 year old. I’m sorry you were brought into a world where you parent disliked you but some parents actually like their children and developmentally meet them where they are whilst teaching them what they’re able to learn, which is consistently recognised as the best method to produce well regulated and successful adults.
