They filled our history books with lies. They left out the most important parts. And they hoped we would never find out. This is five facts about Black history that they made sure you never learned in school. Five facts that will change the way you see American history forever. Five facts that prove what we have always known. That Black people have been at the foundation of everything this country is built on since the very beginning. Fact number one. The first person to die in the American Revolution was a Black man named Crispus Attucks. On March 5th 1770 British soldiers opened fire on a crowd of American colonists in what became known as the Boston Massacre. Crispus Attucks was the first one to fall. He gave his life for a country that did not even consider him a person. America’s very first patriot. The first blood spilled in the fight for American freedom. And they left his name out of every textbook they ever put in front of you. Fact number two. The White House was built by enslaved Black people. The most powerful and most famous house in America. The house where every president has lived since 1800. The house that represents freedom and democracy to the entire world. It was built by people who had no freedom at all. Enslaved Black men and women quarried the stone, laid the bricks and built every wall of that building with their bare hands. They were never paid. They were never acknowledged. And for over two hundred years the country has celebrated that building without ever mentioning the people whose labor made it possible. Fact number three. The real inspiration behind Superman was a Black man named John Henry. A steel driving legend whose strength and determination became one of the most powerful folk tales in American history. A man so extraordinary that his story inspired generations. They took that mythology, that image of an unstoppable man with impossible strength and created Superman. Then they made sure nobody connected the two. They took our legend and built an empire off it without ever giving us credit. Fact number four. A Black doctor named Charles Drew invented the blood bank. He developed the methods for storing blood plasma that have saved millions of lives in hospitals and on battlefields all over the world. During World War Two his blood bank system saved thousands of American soldiers. And then one day Charles Drew was in a car accident and needed emergency treatment. A whites only hospital turned him away. The man who invented the system that saves lives was denied the care that could have saved his. He died from his injuries. The world he helped save could not save him. Four facts. Four contributions that changed America and changed the world. All left out of your education on purpose. This is why this page exists. Because our history is not a footnote. It is not a sidebar. It is the foundation that everything else is built on and it is time the whole world knew that. Share this with everybody you know. Share it with your children. Share it with anyone who still believes Black people have not always been at the center of American greatness.
