I’m doing a rewrite of my urban fantasy story. The mc has a second soul within them that has been trying to talk to the mc. As a result it sounds like voices in his head. Like he’s going crazy. In the original story, he learns magic is real and the voice in his head is an owl spirit that takes over his body. So he just accepts this and moves on to, “wow magic is cool!” The rewrite I’m having him psychologically breakdown for fear he might be going insane over the fact that he’s hearing a voice in he head that he has no control over. It’s such better story telling now.

My character need to call her love interest but she's SO mad at him. When she gets an excuse, she goes after him at the same second 😅 "Oh, no. I need to talk to him. ☺️"

It takes some real re-examination of your original material if you decide to introduce that type of tension later in the process. The tension definitely improves the story but it is challenging to work it in well.
