@hackproduct9: "Design Airbnb" is really two systems — a guest and a host — that meet in the middle. 👇 🟦 Guest (teal): app → CDN/S3 → LB → API Gateway → Search → Elastic, Booking → Booking DB, Payment → gateway → Kafka. 🟧 Host (orange): list → Property Listing → Property DB, photos → S3, reviews → User DB. The trick most people miss: the host never touches the search index. The Property DB streams changes to Kafka (CDC) → a Searching Consumer indexes it into Elastic Search → and that's exactly what the guest searches. The two-tone boxes = shared by both: Load Balancer, API Gateway, S3, Kafka.
