@georgimiller17: A little milestone I’m really proud of. ❤️ For the first time ever, I did my own Guthrie finger prick test. Growing up with PKU, my dad always did my blood spots for me. As an adult, my husband has taken over and has always been the one to help. But he was away this morning, so it was time to do it myself! For those who don’t know, the Guthrie test (blood spot test) involves collecting a few drops of blood from a finger prick onto a special card. For people with PKU, it’s used to monitor phenylalanine (Phe) levels so we can make sure our diet and treatment are keeping them in a safe range. It might seem like a small thing, but after a lifetime of someone else doing it for me, this felt like a huge achievement. 💙 Here’s to celebrating the little wins!
