Fun fact the British effort at Lexington and concord was gun control; one of the 2 main objectives was destroy the stockpiles of arms and ammunition and powder as well as arrest several important leaders/founding fathers who were in the area. The latter got away only because of the time delay caused by the outmatched and outnumbered patriots who initially stood and fought at Lexington and then the delay caused by the rest of the patriots hit and run tactics harassing and slowing the British both ways to and fro until they got back to their garrison in Boston proper

Britain was a powerhouse of technology for the time by the way. We did it with the most basic tools of the era, and that’s also the reason we have the second amendment.
