@Lena T Lena, you are a darn good inspiration! Love all you do. I come here looking for advice. Lately, I’ve been considering going to work in this trade, and trying out for the IUOE; currently, I’m working in a warehouse as a forklift operator. If so, I would be in the Local 181. I could use a bit of advice/info from you before applying though. First question may I ask if you got your CDL before joining the union, or while you’ve been with them? Just wanted to know if there’s anything I should try to get done before applying. Second, what is your time off typically like? The workweek, and vacation schedules? That I’m sure is the hardest during your first couple years At least. Also, if you have any other advice, please throw it in. I want to hear more from you. Would love to talk more about this with you if possible. Really interested in applying, but also wanting to reach out to as many people as I can to determine if it’s the right thing for me. I’ve heard great things, but want to be extra sure. Also, if you know of any in particular, what are the hardest machines to operate?
