@richardakers27: On this day in 1966, the Simon and Garfunkel single “I Am A Rock” debuted on the UK Singles Chart at #28 (June 22) The song written by Paul Simon was first performed by him alone as the opening track on his album “The Paul Simon Songbook” which he originally recorded and released in August 1965, only in the UK. Simon and Garfunkel re-recorded it on December 14, 1965, and included as the final track on their album “Sounds of Silence”. The poignant track peaked at #2 in New Zealand, #3 in the US, #6 in Canada, no10 in Sweden and the Netherlands, in the UK, and in Australia. According to Songfacts, the guitarist on the Simon & Garfunkel version of this song was Ralph Casale, who was a top session player in the '60s. He remembers organist Al Kooper and drummer Bobby Gregg - both associated with Bob Dylan - also performing on the song. #SimonandGarfunkel
