Man Rex tried to give it his all. Okay.. I understand his actions are absolutely inexcusable, and I don’t want you to think I’m affirming them. It’s obviously implied in the story that he had a brutal childhood with Erma, and that’s kinda what lead him to become who he was. The scene where he passed was kinda heart breaking actually cuz Jeannette brings up the point of how she wanted to lift him up and run him out of the hospital "Rex style" like when she was a little kid. He tried to strap himself to the bed for days, but it ultimately didn’t work out, and he tried to do it for his daughter. Also when they’re in New York, and it seemed he acquired a stable life, it’s unfortunate that Rose was so defiant to not move into that apartment with him when he was sober, had a job and life could’ve turned around, yet he went back to the streets. But wow, what an incredible book that was

I don’t know if I can watch. I just read the sad was an alcoholic… my dad was a really bad sick sick man.. died when he was 57 from alcohol abuse . I hope you’re ok?! 🫂 🥰
