Somatic OCD was/is the worst subtype for me to get through 💞 sending so much love. “Discomfort does not always mean danger” helps me a lot.

Full disclosure: I’m a guy and I started following you because I thought you were pretty. But since then I’ve come to really admire you a lot. I can’t imagine being 23 and also being as graceful and mature in regards to opposition as you. Keep going!

This is why somatic therapy is sooooo important as someone who intellectualizes her own feelings, I could not do talk therapy it was actually aiding in my rumination

After my mom died so suddenly and in a way I could have never imagined my anxiety got better because I realized that worrying doesn’t prevent anything and all the rare bad things I keep thinking will happen to me are just as likely as rare good things (like winning the lottery) I just let life happen now

I went deaf at 24 when my son was still a small baby. It was the hardest time of my life… I now have a cochlear, service dog, and I’m also now a therapist. There’s nothing you can’t do!

Girl just know if you get POTS it’s your nervous system and not another new thing. This is so similar to my brain and I got pots out of it. And then I spent six years chasing answers and it’s this ocd loop. I’m not trying to put fear of other things into your brain but just know if you get pots it’s pretty par for the course.

Psychologist here. When I talk about OCD with my patients, I describe it as a disorder of feeling, not thinking. If you’re an intellectualizer, or your compulsions involve rumination, your ability to conceptualize and understand yourself and think yourself in circles is strong. But we engage in compulsions (eg rumination) to avoid the feelings our obsessions bring up. It makes sense you’re a deep feeler who is also an intellectualizer. Those can (and tend to) go hand in hand, in part because your brain is trying to avoid those deep emotional responses you experience when having an obsession/intrusive thought. Thinking is not the way out. Feeling is, and learning we can handle those emotions if we let them come and go. ❤️

I just want to say this video is so validating for me having ocd. The ‘my mental status is so bad that I’m overlooking my compulsions’ is so real. I just felt that.

Silent follower and a therapist. Sending so much love. Adapting to any change takes a long time, adapting to existing and experiencing the world in a new way will take however long it takes you. Don’t rush yourself, you are so wise. Very proud of you

I'm only 30 and recently got a cancer diagnosis. It's really crazy to hear "you're so young and so healthy but you have this debilitating thing" and I found your videos very comforting. I know the crying might feel embarassing but I really appreciated knowing that these kind of emotions can feel universal even with different diagnosis.

I’m a 22 year old OCD and hearing loss girl who uses hearing aids. Struggling with the what ifs and accepting what’s happening can feel suffocating but suddenly you have a day when you haven’t thought about it and then a week. If you ever want a chat I’m up for a discussion on the privilege of being able to hear silence just let me know 🤣🤣

As another young 23 year old that struggles with their health and is constantly dismissed due to being young, I unfortunately deeply resonate with your struggle. Especially the mental toll that weighs on you that no one else sees, please know your frustrations are so valid and you are not alone 🫶🏾

I was diagnosed with diabetes at 20. And I dealt with it for an entire year like a champ. And then I broke and struggled and raged and my friends all thought I would be “over it”. But I had never felt it. You’re allowed to deal with the reality of your body betraying you. You’re allowed to handle it gracelessly and messily because the emotions are messy and graceless. I understand the impossibly high standards and as someone who struggles with a lot of the feelings you do, you’re doing great. Give yourself the grace you’d give your friends. (Good luck)
