I know someone who went to the ER for a nosebleed that stopped on its own after a couple minutes. I also know someone who drove to the ER for indigestion and he was actually having a widowmaker at 36 almost expired.

Went in for a lump in my boob close to the surface that felt hot and I felt off mentally- I couldn’t maintain a thought or process questions. I assumed I was just tired from moving and possibly injured it during. My mom was a paramedic and refused to let me go home until I went to the hospital. Turns out I had a mass the size of a lemon and was septic. Required 12 hours of strong iv antibiotics followed by emergency surgery.

Had a cough for two weeks, finally went to see my GP after I was hacking so hard I nearly blacked out. Anyways it was pneumonia in both lungs. Got bit by a rat while I was wearing dish gloves, the glove didn’t break so no saliva contact but the bite ended up swelling so much I couldn’t bend the finger at all. Called urgent care before coming in to make sure it was justified (rabies doesn’t exist here), front desk sounded very stressed when she confirmed yes I should come in please. Tetanus shots are fun. Fell and heard a crunch, called for an ambulance (someone else did I was going into shock), EMT rocks up says I have a rolled ankle and if it’s still bad after a couple of days I should go to urgent care and then forced me to try and walk on it. Next day I take a look at it and decide yea I still can’t put any pressure on this (my ankles physically cannot roll the way most do so it was never going to be a rolled ankle) time for urgent care. Go to urgent care and knew something was off when the radiology tech personally wheeled me back to the waiting room. Was later informed I’d broken my fibula and that they were sending my images to ortho at the hospital. Ortho called back 5 minutes later saying I needed to get there ASAP because I’d be needing surgery. Eventually get surgery and come back to get my stitches removed, no one informed me I’d actually shattered my leg rather than just the one fracture.

Was just there today for an ear infection and i was like what if im being dramatic and nothings wrong, the dr looked at my ear said “oh dear” and then said i had an inner and outer ear infection and was ENTIRELY too chill abt it 😭😭

Got told it was gas twice, my favourite is a few days before I’d been told I had a massive cyst on my ovary, which was common for me and the pain was familiar but 10x worse. Super dismissive young ER doc told me “your ovary looks totally normal, must be gas” like no dude I don’t think we go from a cyst the size my ovary to “normal” 😅

Meanwhile I had extreme abdominal pain for three days and booked an appointment with my gp saying I think I have appendicitis, they called me back like three hours later and were like wtf go to the er😭😭 it was indeed appendicitis

Went to urgent care because my doctor (who I just had a phone consult with) didn't like the way my cough sounded. UC took me for xrays and then, without explaining why, called an ambulance. I tried to tell them I was fine to drive, but they said I couldn't. I was at the hospital for hours before being told that I had a pulmonary embolism that had broken apart in my lung. The chunk that split off went through my heart and into the other lung! At least I know my valves are clear!

I thought I was constipated and couldn't fix the situation myself. I was in so much pain I finally went to the ER. Turns out I had a 33cm/ 19 pound ovarian cyst with torsion.

in the UK we can call the non emergency 111 line. I'm pretty positive the operator has to read from a script but the littlest thing will make them tell you to go to a&e. and then a&e gets mad at you for it... ITS NOT MY FAULT 😭

I smacked my head on the corner of my sewing table while trying to empty a box, my right eye went totally black for a second. I didn't initially want to go but I got a real bad headache a few hours later, gave myself a concussion. I have skill apparently.

Guess how many people go to ED thinking they're having a heart attack but it's actually a panic attack? That's not meant as a, drama queens kinda way. More of a, isn't it sad/interesting how similar they seem in the moment?

Took my then 6 year old to the er with suspected appendicitis (fever, tummy ache, lethargy). Tummy ache turned out to be gas (kid over trusted a fart earlier in the day and wouldn’t fart all day), BUT while we were there they caught that she had pneumonia (hence the fever and lethargy)!! Luckily caught it early and she recovered well at home. Bonus - it was Christmas Day, the ER was empty and we were seen very quickly

I had episodes in middle school where my vision would rapidly fade into it was grainy back and white like static on an old TV, my hearing would disappear except a high pitched ringing, I would have horrible waves of hot and cold and i would get nauseous. the doctor said i was just dehydrated probably and made us leave 😳 (i wasn't dehydrated btw)

Once went to urgent care for what I thought was strep throat. They sent me to the er because my heartrate was in the 150s. pneumonia and a blood clot in my lung.

Went to urgent care with abdominal pain. It was going on for several days, and figured it could’ve just been something postpartum related. It was appendicitis. Only symptom I had was the abdominal pain, even my labs were normal.
