@voguesmoodboard: on June 28, 1970, the first Pride march took place. more than 50 years later, we still need Pride and Pride Month. Pride is not just a parade or a celebration. it is a protest against patriarchy, heteronormativity, cisnormativity, oppressive governments, and systemic injustices. including all the relevant data here is almost impossible, and choosing which statistics to feature in this edit honestly felt wrong, because they are all relevant. according to the FRA survey, in the EU “there has been a significant increase in hate-motivated harassment targeting LGBTIQ people, with more than half reporting that they had experienced this”, with a growth of 18 p.p. since 2019. according to the Trevor Project, 36% of LGBTQ+ young people in the U.S. “seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year, including 40% of transgender and nonbinary young people, while 59% of LGBTQ+ young people (ages 13–17) experienced bullying in the past year.” all of this data — which is only the tip of the iceberg, considering that the queer people surveyed represent only a small fraction of the community, both geographically and in terms of age — is why we still need Pride. across the world, LGBTQ+ rights continue to be challenged, restricted, and taken away. according to ILGA, 65 UN member states criminalize same-sex relationships, while according to Equaldex, the legal recognition of a gender change is not possible at all in 102 regions worldwide and in more than 50 regions, gender recognition is legally possible, but only with significant barriers — such as mandatory medical diagnosis or surgery. hate, discrimination, and harassment against the LGBTQ+ community are still very much alive. many queer people are still afraid to come out, to dress the way they feel comfortable, or simply to be themselves. last week, Mirko Moriconi, 24, was killed by his own father for being gay. his mother, Kety Andreoni, was also killed for supporting him. this edit is dedicated to them, and to every victim. let’s never stop talking about them. everyone needs to speak up and show up, and i can’t stress this enough even if June is coming to an end, happy pride month to all of you credits for the pictures: AP News, Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center (stonewallforever.org), and myself #pridemonth #Pride #lgbtq #humanrights #fyp
