The important thing is cheese choice, and then also to use two knives. One to cut away the moldy area, and the second to cut off an additional section for safety. This makes sure you don't drag any mold from the first cut to the second cut. But when in doubt, throw it out!

I worked in a cheese plant. Hard cheeses came in 50lb blocks and we unwrapped em, scraped the mold off and re wrapped them to go to the other side for cutting, packaging and distribution. So everybody has eaten molded cheese... 🤣

I’ve cut it off bread before when I was poor and ate the part that didn’t have mold on it.

When I was a kid and my family was poor we’d get government cheese and yes it would mold. Mom just cut that part off and we’d continue to eat it. Even knowing I was allergic to mold 😳🤣🤣🤣

Just know that no restaurant is going to throw out a hard cheese that has mold on it. They absolutely cut it off.

Hard block cheese absolutely. As kids growing up was shown to check the cheese an cut off mould. Think it came from my Grandmother who grew up/teen in the depression years. I still do it 🤷🏻‍♀️

did this my whole life. learned it from my grandma. only with brick cheese. not sliced cheese. and it ALWAYS went into a new container.
