Had an ear piercing get ripped from my ear, the wound got infected. Went to my college campus clinic, the doctor looked at my chart, said “your ear hurts because you’re trans and on hormones” and then left. Never looked at the ear.

After I gave birth I flagged that I thought I was bleeding too much. The PREGNANT postpartum nurse didn’t know I was her patient but gave me a half hearted fundal massage and told me I was overreacting. It wasn’t until I told her to check for a THIRD time that she finally realized I WAS hemorrhaging and then she just froze and stood there. My MOM called the other nurses in

I was born with symptoms of a severe bowel problem likely caused by my connective tissue disorder my GI doctor when I was about 8 or 9 turned round to my mum blamed her, gave me a diet to have when that didn't work he said I was faking it for attention and I would grow out of it, over a decade later im waiting to see a surgeon about a possible stoma since ive exhausted all medical options, I have a bad case of slow bowel transit. I also have more stories of UTI's being just a young woman, fainting being anxiety then when I started having periods magically it was that and the time a healthcare professional didn't even look at me and asked my mum if I had psychiatric input when I was 23 and capable of speaking to her

my dad was in the PCU for stroke watch... in the middle of the night he told the nurse his headache was getting worse and he couldn't feel his left side... the nurse said his face looked fine and to back to sleep... he had a major stroke that night (his 3rd) and spent months in rehab and barely able function... people always say he was lucky he was already in the hospital when it happened🤦🏻‍♀️

was in the hospital for 3 weeks. woke up in extreme pain in my abdomen one day. few hours later I started vomiting uncontrollably. nothing worked. had to put an ng tube in. they thought it was anxiety. gave me meds to relax. after scanning my abdomen turned out I had ruptured intestines!!! I needed surgery. took them over 12 hours to diagnose me with that. I was 1 hour from death. but u know anxiety

Presented to the ER 8 days post partum with sever abdominal pain that woke me up. Charge nurse told me I was faking it and she "wouldn't waste the doctor's time" with me. Father of my child dead looked at this woman and said "I just watched her push a whole human out of her body unmedicated and she did not shed a tear. She's crying from the pain, get the doctor." Turns out I had a HORRIBLE kidney infection that caused me to get admitted to the hospital. Was real fun going back to work 3 months later as a paramedic and giving hand off to that Charge nurse 🤣

I spent years with an aneurysm on my frontal lobe bc my ex doctor told me he was doing a blood test and a ct scan. He didn't send the bloodwork out and never looked at the CT scan. 5 years later a woman gyno was concerned about my symptoms. Turns out my body stopped producing progesterone and it would have saved me 5 years of pain if he had just sent in the bloodwork.

I am a type 1 diabetic. I once had a Dr refuse to refill my insulin unless I agreed to take 15 units of fast acting insulin per meal. No sliding scale or anything. I told them that would kill me. For reference I usually need 4-7 units depending on the meal and my sugar.

Road a really old steel Rollercoaster and on the last inversion, my head SLAMMED on the seat behind me despite trying to brace myself. Went to the doctor a week later because I was so dizzy I could hardly walk, had to hold on to the nurse so I wouldnt fall over. She evaluated me for a concussion and confirmed it. Only one side of my head hurt (the side i hit) doctor comes in "are you sure you arent pregnant?" 👁👄👁

Thought I pulled a muscle in my abdomen during horseback riding... got to the ER because it hurt like hell and I couldn't stand upright. My mum (a PEDS ER nurse in the neighbouring children's hospital) came in, looked at me and said to the doc "she's quiet. she's NEVER quiet if she got hurt. Check for ANYTHING possible under the sun" It was a ruptured ovarian cyst and they found ovarian cancer. Thanks mum

“You are not having actual seizures. They are Pseudo Seizures caused by anxiety and stress. I recommend a shrink.” An MRI and my Neurologist said otherwise. I have absentee seizures and most doctors apparently don’t know what that is.

"get used to the back pain, you've got large breasts, so it's expected." when I finally got referred to a specialist 6 years later... "I don't understand how you're not in a wheelchair." the list of crap I had wrong would take forever to type but the cliffnotes is, I was in a car accident that messed everything from my neck to my hips up and bc nothing was done all my muscles atrophied. it's been 12 years trying to fix it, and I still need crutches to walk

I had two seizures when I was 18, got diagnosed with epilepsy. I never agreed with it, weaned myself off the meds over the span of a year and a half, and then figured out on my own that the seizures weren't just seizures. they were strokes. I had two strokes 🙃 I'm suffering from complications years later

I had my first full blown asthma attack. Never experienced one before so I thought maybe it was carbon monoxide poisoning so I went to the ER. They told me it was anxiety despite being unable to breath at all. Sent me home and thankfully I didn't die.

Had a doctor think it was hilarious when she almost gave me a large dose of fast acting insulin instead of slow acting. She could have killed me and laughed in my face.

I can't remember my actual diagnosis, but the Muscle that wraps around my Pelvic and the Muscles from butt to mid Calf in right leg were so tight it shortened that leg causing numbness and severe pain. I told my doctor and she said "you just need to lose weight!"

a dr told my dad that there was nothing they could do for him (we were in the hospital because he had a seizure with no history of seizures) because he had cancer so he needed to "die at home because other people need the ER more"

I had a female NP in an OBGYN clinic tell me that she wasn’t going to run test or do the laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis even though my symptoms and family history obviously showed I had endo. I fired her and changed to a male Gyno and actual Dr. not even a week later he got me in surgery and I did in fact have endometriosis

had a seizure for the first time and the emt that took me in told me that it was probably just an anxiety attack since i could remember some of the seizure and if it was “really” a seizure i wouldn’t have been able to remember parts of it. Told the charge nurse when we arrived i was there for anxiety and “aches and pains” because i had a history of chronic pain. I flipped the fuck out and yelled that if they put that in the paperwork i wanted it changed because that’s not why i was there, and I did NOT have a panic attack! i called around the next day and got in contact with his boss and reported him. HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE!!! unfortunately er doc also thought that because i remembered parts of it it’s not a seizure, which is wrong! There are over 100+ types of seizures and many of them can happen while conscious! they left me alone for 40+ minutes with no supervision and refused to let my husband go back there until we insisted bc i was ALONE with no seizure safeguards after having my first seizure. yeah i told my husband id rather refuse an ambulance ama and have him drive me to a different hospital next time

I had a miscarriage in 2018 and 2020. I get suspicious I have PCOS so I go to get checked. The dr tells me I don’t “fit the bill” for PCOS and hand me the images from the ultrasound they did. I go again in 2023 for painful intercourse. Two months before this visit I’d miscarried for a third time. They do an ultrasound, tell me one of my ovaries is unusual compared to the other. I have to get a repeat scan in a few weeks and they prescribe sex to “find the painful spots.” In those few weeks I not only have a ruptured ovarian cyst, but I also find out I’m pregnant. Flash forward a year later, my dr changed right after I got pregnant, so I tell her of the previous issues and we do an ultrasound. I’m immediately diagnosed with PCOS. I compared the ultrasound they gave me four years prior and they’re identical. The only reason I wasn’t diagnosed even though I had it four years ago was because I didn’t fit that doctor’s bias on what a woman with PCOS looked like, solely because I was skinny and hadn’t grown any kind of hair on my face. It’s been five years and I’m finally learning how to naturally manage symptoms and am a single mom so I don’t have to deal with pain apart from cycles and cysts and it’s a lot better 😅
