Actually this is kind of misleading. John Hanson was just the president of Congress back when we had the Articles of Confederation. He didn't have any actual executive power, he was basically just a chairman. George Washington is still the real first president because he was the first one elected under the actual Constitution.

George Washington was unanimously elected as the first president of the United States on February 4th, 1789, when the state's electors cast their votes. Washington received 69 electoral votes, winning the support of every participating state. to this day, he remains the only president to achieve 100% unanimous vote in the Electoral Vollege.
