@donnallyspineconsult: Most people think a pinched nerve in the neck only causes neck pain. Not true. A C6 nerve root is one of the most commonly compressed nerves in the cervical spine. Classic symptoms include: ⚡ Pain from the neck into the shoulder, arm, and thumb 👋 Numbness or tingling in the thumb and index finger 💪 Weakness of the biceps and wrist extensors 🔨 A decreased biceps reflex on examination The most common cause is a C5-6 disc herniation or bone spur narrowing the nerve’s exit. The good news? Many patients improve with medications, physical therapy, and injections.
