@cpap_sleep_coach: Night sweats. Can’t sleep. Exhausted. Brain fog. Mood swings. Your doctor said perimenopause or menopause. What if it’s also something else — something nobody tested for? Here’s the problem with perimenopause/menopause and sleep apnea: they wear the exact same costume. Night sweats — both. Insomnia — both. Exhaustion — both. Brain fog — both. Mood changes — both. Waking up throughout the night — both. So when you describe these symptoms perimenopause or menopause is the logical answer. It fits. And maybe it is. But very often it’s sleep apnea too — both happening at the same time, compounding each other. And here’s why that distinction is critical: treating perimenopause or menopause doesn’t treat sleep apnea. You can be on hormone therapy and still have your airway obstructing your breathing dozens of times a night. You’ll still feel terrible. And the perimenopause or menopause treatment will take the blame for not working well enough. The only way to know what’s driving your symptoms is to separate the diagnoses. You don’t have to choose between investigating perimenopause or menopause and investigating sleep apnea. Tell your doctor you want both evaluated. Don’t let one explanation close the door on the other. Share this with a woman in your life who is dealing with these symptoms — she may not know she has options. 💙 This video is for educational and informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
